Welcome to ETS

Education Technology Services is a unit of Teaching and Learning with Technology within Information Technology Services at the Pennsylvania State University. Our primary mission is to provide leadership and support in the appropriate use of technology for teaching, learning, and research. We work to achieve our mission by:

Want to Hang Out?

ETS is located at the corner of West Beaver Avenue in the Rider Building. Nearly our entire staff is at this location where we maintain our digital media studio, two conference rooms, and various other spaces to sit down and talk. You are always welcome to stop in and talk with us.

We are always interested in getting together to share ideas and have discussions related to teaching and learning with technology. Come join us in the new Cafe ETS space or participate in a virtual sense by checking out the ETS Wiki. If you want to get together and talk, simply contact us today and we’ll get something scheduled.

Each Friday at 9 AM, several ETS Staff participate in a Brain Storming Breakfast in the downstairs portion of Irving’s Bagels. All are welcome! The only requirement is that you come ready to talk and share new ideas. Later that day we produce the ETS Talk Podcast. The Podcast typically happens at 2 PM on Fridays. We’d love to have you join us as a guest — either in person or Skype us at the ETS Talk HotLine or drop us an email and we’ll pull up a chair for you.

Opportunities to Work Together

There are many ways ETS works with faculty, staff, and students. If you would like to talk about meeting face to face, learn about our initiatives, or to get involved in the Technology Learning Assistants program, just contact us.

One programatic approach is through focusing energy on creating communities — both physical and virtual. Through our Hot Team approach we are constantly working to identify new ways to appropriately integrate emerging technologies into the teaching and learning process. Through the Engagement Project we support faculty who are interested in the integration of these emerging tools into their teaching environments. Currently ETS is working with faculty related to Course Redesign, Grass Roots Video, Virtual Worlds, Educational Gaming, Adobe Connect Pro, Podcasting, and Personal Publishing.

New Engagement Awards are announced in ongoing basis. We have also recently announced our Faculty Fellows program that is designed to let our staff share a longer-term experience with faculty. If you are interested in learning more or want to propose a joint project, contact us today.

Take a few minutes to look around the site. Here you will find links to our initiatives, be able to meet our people, and discover what is new by checking out the ETS Blog. We also invite you to take a look at the Hot Team white papers and explore the many online spaces we manage.
