Because We Don't Control It

30 minutes ago, Cole Camplese completed his keynote session on Web 2.0. Impressive. Perhaps the most important comment, for me, was his report that when students were asked why they spent so much time on FaceBook and MySpace, students responded "Because you don't control it." Ouch. The truth hurts.

How do we use these technologies to create valuable learning communities, without trying to control it. Seems doable, but only if we remember to try to leave control in their hands.
