The following notice was sent out by ANGEL Support. Please note that the problem has been corrected and all course editors have been notified.
Notice to Instructors and Course Editors that grades are now correct and
being properly calculated when using the "Treat Ungraded Items as Zero"
Option in the ANGEL Course Gradebook.
Grades were not properly calculated when all of the below options were
selected:
1. Your gradebook mode is percentage,
2. You have selected the "Treat Ungraded Items as Zero" option, and
3. You are dropping grades, e.g. drop the lowest score in a category.
The problem has been fixed and in these instances the gradebook is now
correctly dropping the lowest score for the student. If you have any
questions or concerns, please contact ANGEL Support.
Below is an announcement from Information Technology Services regarding an issue with matching and ordering quiz questions. Please note that the bug has been fixed and the course editors in all affected courses have been notified.
Information Technology Services (ITS) has discovered and fixed an issue in
ANGEL 7.1 that caused student responses (answers) to matching or ordering
questions in ANGEL quizzes to be stored incorrectly. This caused the
following problems with questions in quizzes offered between May 19 and 31,
2007:
* Student answers to matching or ordering questions appeared as hyphens when
viewed by an instructor or when reviewed by the student.
* The question was marked incorrect and no points awarded.
The issue that caused the answers to be stored incorrectly has been resolved
and all affected answers are now correct. This issue will not occur in
any matching or ordering questions in quizzes taken on May 31, 2007 or
later.
ITS Training Services has released the first in a series of ANGEL 7.1 video tutorials. These tutorials cover some of the key user interface changes that were implemented with the upgrade. For example, there is a series of "Where Did It Go?" tutorials designed to show you "where popular features, menus, and links went" when we went to ANGEL 7.1. This video tutorials are brief, timely and informative. They provide an excellent visual demonstration of navigating the new user interface.

Allan & I provided an overview of what to expect in ANGEL 7 for the Department of Dairy and Animal Science (DAS) on May 7th. DAS recorded the sessions and was kind enough to allow us to share it.
You may have noticed, when you select the Help (?) button icon on the left hand side of the screen the ANGEL Help & Information Guide looks different (See the attached screen shot). Well, that's because it is different. Along with the upgrade to ANGEL 7.1 we also installed a new help tool. The new Help tool should make finding documentation easier. Information is now broken down into topical chunks called articles. You can use the Content links on the left to search for articles by tab. Or you can use the Search feature.
Once found, you have the option to print, email, bookmark, or download articles. Additionally you can also subscribe to an article. By subscribing to an article you will receive an email notification whenever the article is updated.
The Help & Information Guide is still the place to go to contact ANGEL Support, suggest an enhancement, etc.
From 6:00 p.m. (EDT) Friday, May 18 to 6:00 p.m. (EDT) Saturday, May 19, Penn State's Course Management System, ANGEL (http://cms.psu.edu/), will be unavailable. During this time period, Information Technology Services (ITS) will be upgrading ANGEL from version 6.3 to version 7.1. ITS regrets any inconvenience this outage may cause.
