CSCS user's manual updated

As mentioned in the previous post, updates have been made to the Course Submission & Consultation System component. As a result, I have posted a revised User's Manual, accessed by opening the CSCS component, then selecting the User's Manual link in the toolbar. It is available in both HTML and PDF format.

ANGEL version to remain unchanged

Information Technology Services (ITS) has canceled the ANGEL upgrade to version 7.2 originally scheduled for the weekend of July 19. Testing and analysis of 7.2 indicated that the new version (and some features) may not perform robustly in our environment, and for this reason we will remain at 7.1 for the next year. During this time frame, ITS staff will work closely with the ANGEL vendor to optimize a future release to meet the needs of the growing Penn State user environment. ITS will provide periodic updates to the user community throughout the coming year.

ANGEL upcoming version 7.2 to be explored during Town Hall

Faculty and staff are invited to attend a free ANGEL Town Hall on Thursday, June 5, from 2:00-3:30 p.m., either in person at 104 Thomas Building, University Park, or via an online Adobe Connect videoconference. Attendees will be able to preview the new tools and features of the ANGEL 7.2 course management system and participate in an open discussion with their peers from across Penn State. To register, visit http://its.psu.edu/training/. In the Register for Training area, select either "ANGEL Town Hall" to attend in person or "ANGEL Town Hall (via Adobe Connect)."

ANGEL to be upgraded to version 7.2 weekend of July 19

During the weekend of July 19, Information Technology Services plans to upgrade Penn State's Course Management System, ANGEL, from version 7.1 to 7.2. The new version will feature enhancements to several existing tools, and several new tools will help course editors perform administrative tasks. For the most part, however, the interface and functionality will remain familiar to users. To learn more about the upgrade, visit http://tlt.its.psu.edu/news/index.html#angel72features. For any questions, contact ANGEL support at angelsupport@psu.edu.

7.1 - 7.2 comparison chart (updated)

Attached is an updated version of the comparison chart previously posted. It is now accurate to the best of my knowledge.

7.1 - 7.2 comparison chart (draft) attached

I am attaching a PDF of the comparison chart I developed, because I really do want to help everyone! However, be aware that there are a couple places highlighted where I need to see the screens on our preview server to verify the information. I do not yet have access to that. When I've been able to verify everything, I will post an updated version.

Reminder: ANGEL Import Wizard and Export Wizard tools to be turned off during finals week

To optimize the performance of Penn State's Course Management System, ANGEL, during spring finals week, the Import Wizard and Export Wizard tools will be turned off from 5:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3 until 7:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10. These tools include the Copy Course, import Content Package, import Master Course, and export ANGEL Archive functions. The tools for importing and exporting individual lesson content items between courses and groups will be turned off as well. These temporary changes for that week are one of a number of steps that have been taken to improve ANGEL performance during the period of intense usage associated with finals week.
