Gradebook Question

Hello everyone,

In one of my courses I had to make a duplicate copy of the lesson quizzes and assign them to just one student. So basically, the rest of the class has access to the original lesson quizzes, and then that one student has access to the duplicate copy. Now I'm not quite sure how to set up the gradebook. Say for Lesson 1 Quiz, should I create two assignments in the gradebook? However that means the rest of the class can see two Lesson 1 Quiz in their Grades report. I thought of in the Assignment advanced settings, link Lesson 1 Quiz assignment to both copies, and set the "Calculation Type" to be "Maximum score." That way, the gradebook should only record the quiz that a student actually took, but there is no Preview Tool for me to tell if this works.

Anyone had the same experience? Please share how you solved the problem. I'd really appreciate it!

Also, I'd like to know if the default full grade for Angel quiz is always "100 points." The Lesson 1 Quiz is 5 points x 30 questions = 150 points. When I created the duplicate copy of the quiz, the full grade showed as 100 points although no question settings were touched. Only after I created the gradebook assignment to link to the duplicate, and manually enter 150 to the "Points" textbox, the full grade changed in the quiz.

This does work, and is the exact recommendation that I would make.

The default points value for any item is 100 when you create it using the assignment tab in the content item's settings. If you create an assignment using the Assignment page in the gradebook on the manage tab, this field is empty by default.

Thanks!

Thanks so much! :)

I actually have a follow up question. Is there a way to reset the default points value to be anything other than 100, when I create the assignment using the assignment tab in the content item's settings?

Yes, assuming you are tying this entry to the grade book via the Assignment tab-->New assignment (or edit the existing grade book assignment). There you can designate any number of points. If you don't tie the quiz to the gradebook, then the grade will be percentage based.

Thanks

Thanks Irma!
