ANGEL mail frustration

Two frustrating things about ANGEL's new mail setup:

1.) Adding address to the "To:" I use computers with fairly small screen (1024x768 and 1024x600), so the flash pop-up address adding window often has the bottom of that window (with the all important "Okay" button) hidden from view. Clicking on it gives me the ability to move it, but not resize it to my screen area. Since I can't drag it higher than the banner, this doesn't help.

2.) When I look at the emails I sent, they are *not* word wrapped. I have to horizontally scroll quite a way to read a long paragraph. Is this a formatting error on my part?

Re: ANGEL mail frustration

1. We're waiting on a fix for this one from ANGEL Learning. Sorry I don't have anything better to say than that. You might have better luck using Mail > View Inbox > Compose instead of Mail > Quick Compose.

2. We're also waiting discussing this one from ANGEL Learning. What you describe happens when the person sending the message has their mail format, found in mail > preferences > format, set to "plain text." In this case "plain text" is interpreted to mean "I'll format my own messages, including inserting line breaks." ANGEL wraps the message in HTML PRE tags, causing the browser to not wrap the lines.

To avoid this problem with messages you send in the future, please click the Preferences link in your inbox, change the format drop-down to HTML, and save. This won't retroactively change the display of messages you've sent but will prevent this problem from occurring in the future. When composing messages after you've made this change, please make sure you click the HTML Editor link to make sure messages are formatted correctly.

Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do if you are the recipient of such a message. You might want to ask the sender to change their mail format to HTML. ANGEL Support can help with instructions on how to do that.

We're exploring a method for improving the plain/HTML text issue and autoloading the HTML editor in-house. We're also working on getting the underlying issues fixed from ANGEL Learning.

re: item 1

While responding to yet another complaint about this problem, I discovered that if I click on the last user in the "User" list, then hit the tab key - it tabs to to the "OK" button. I can then hit the "Enter" key to close the window.

Also, hiding the banner (by clicking the hide/show banner in the upper right window) seems to open up a little more real estate in the window.

Lack of word wrap

The lack of word wrap in viewing email messages (which carries over to mail forwarded to a "regular" email account is a huge frustration (i.e. this is about the most unusable email I have seen in an eternity). It really needs to be fixed, or the system should not have been "upgraded". Whoever tests before the upgrades needs to be sure they are living in the real world.

The defaults produce the behaviour, and you need to change the defaults, or figure out how to override them.

Re: Lack of word wrap

This should be in next week's update. I have an announcement that contains details on this update in the works; it should be posted here in the early afternoon.
