Want links to open outside of ANGEL

It used to be that when you added a link and selected "New Window" and "No banner" as the target settings that ANGEL would open the link in a new tab outside of ANGEL - but now (at least in Firefox) the link is still opening up with the ANGEL navigation/settings options still there - like it is still within the framework of ANGEL and this is causing me problems with printing some things - and it is still referencing a long url with cms as the start... I want students to have access to the actual link so they can bookmark it if they would like to - is there a way to get links to work as true links? not referencing something from within ANGEL?

Thanks!

Links opening in new window/no banner

I was surprised with this change too since I had worked with a large number of faculty in the past to use these settings so students could capture those web addresses to add to their favorites and be able to revisit even after the course ended. There's a technical reason why this doesn't work anymore, but I don't recall what it is. Anyway, the work around I received from ANGEL support is to put all of your links on a Page and to make the target for each link "New." They'll open in a new window without the ANGEL banner in this way.

The technical reason is that

The technical reason is that all content in ANGEL is now embedded in an iframe. We had an extensive discussion with ANGEL Learning about this in the past with the end answer being that this is the way it is, folks. Having the content embedded when using the "no banner" option is a bug and it should be fixed in a future update. We have no ETA on that.

In addition to using a page item, you can also embed your links in a section heading. This would be preferable if you have a need for the links to show up on the Lessons tab directly instead of in a page. Also, you could embed them in the description of a folder if you use a folder to organize your content.

You could also use the links nugget on the resources or communicate tab, but students may not be used to looking there for this type of information.

thanks

Thanks Carol and Jen!
