ANGELshorts Vol. 3, Issue #5 Five Things You Should Know about the Assessment Tool is now available.
From the article:
"Beginning January 5, 2010, course editors will have the option of using the assessment tool along with the quiz tool in their ANGEL course. Assessments, like quizzes, can be used for student practice and feedback, homework assignments, and to evaluating learning. Assessments will replace quizzes when ANGEL is upgraded to version 7.4 following the end of the spring 2010
semester. Course editors are encouraged to prepare for the change by experimenting with the assessment tool during the semester. Documentation and video tutorials are available to assist with the transition. Additionally, a free Winter-Fest workshop on the assessment tool will be held January 7. Question
Checking this out now! One question. On the ANGELshorts page, the first item states:
Within a course, editors have the option of converting all quizzes into assessments simultaneously or individually.
• Use the Course Quiz Migration tool under the Lessons tab Utilities menu to convert all quizzes at once.
• Use the Convert Quiz to Assessment tool under the Utilities menu of an individual quiz to convert only that quiz.
However, though I could easily see the link to migrate quizzes in bulk (via Lesson tab utilities), I could not find the option to migrate an individual quiz via its utilities menu. Am I missing something?
Re: question
It should be there. It's Convert Quiz to Assessment and located last in the list. If it is not, please contact ANGEL Support for assistance. Make sure you tell them the course and quiz titles.
RESOLVED
Thanks again for reporting this to ANGEL Support! Since the community hub is not monitored routinely and is really intended to be a discussion area, reporting issues like this to ANGEL Support is the way to ensure that they are investigated and fixed in a timely manner.
There was an issue that caused the link to not show up in some courses. This has been resolved.
Another Question
I've been converting some quizzes to assessments and the images in the quizzes don't always make it in the conversion. I'm wondering if there are any tips for this?
Thank you!!
Re: Another Question
This is an issue that we're working with Blackboard/ANGEL Learning to resolve. We hope to have a solution for it soon. Unfortunately, there is no workaround. You may want to wait until we announce a fix to convert your assessments if you can. Otherwise, you will need to manually correct the path to the images after conversion.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Re: Another Question
Update: these images should be converted correctly when we upgrade to ANGEL 7.4. Thank you for your continued patience!
Question re: student access to finished quizzes
I would like to know if there is a way to restrict student views of questions on quizzes after submission. I may want to reuse some of the questions that I created for the quizzes in future classes while ensuring that the answers do not get recycled and reused among students as well!
In my case, I would like to learn how to 1)allow students to view only incorrect questions, and 2)close all views (and go over questions with individual students during office hours.)
I understand that there is a way to restrict access to the quizzes generally by listing start and end times, but my concern came from the assessment > at a glance tab, where, under 'interactions,' it shows
"Review available begins after user submission"
I am not clear if this refers to student review of the quiz?
Basically, I would like to make sure that (with the auto-graded multiple choice, multiple select, etc sections specifically) I can control access to the specific questions and answers after submission.
Thank you!
