Using the Penn State Test Tool to retrieve grades from the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence and then releasing them to students is a 2-step process:
Step1: Create the link in your course
1. Go into your course
2. Select add content
3. Select Add a Penn State Test Tool
4. Enter a Title (usually the name of the exam)
5. Select the Gradebook Assignment box and complete the appropriate fields
6. Under Schreyer Institute Test Type select the Scanned Bubble Sheet option
7. Select the exam
8. Select Save
Step 2: Retirieving and Releasing Grades
Once you do this you can go into the content item to retrieve the grades. To do this from the Lessons Tab:
1. Select the name of the Test Tool Link, eg Exam 1 or whatever you named it
2. Select the retrieve grades button
3. Once the grades are retrieved you can edit them if necessary
4. When you are satisfied they are correct select the Release button. This releases the grades to students (they can now see them) and also will populate the gradebook with their scores.

Calculation Type
When using bubble sheets must we always choose Manual calculation type for the grade retrieval and release to work?
Question about the Test Tool link
Just found the "Using the Penn State Test Tool Link" info and I think this is EXACTLY the info I needed...thanks!! But I want to verify ;-) I have a course that uses the gradebook already (GEOSC 10). They are doing a face-to-face final exam with Scantron forms. Schreyer had told them that it would be possible to pull the grades in to their existing gradebook...now I need to help them set that up. So the "Using the Penn State Test Tool Link" directions you provide are what I need to follow...correct?

Re: Question about the Test Tool link
Ann, that's correct. you just need to follow the directions above. let us know if you have any problems.
Suggested revision to Test Tool directions
On the step where it says "Select Exam," it would be helpful to note that the exam will not show up on the list until AFTER it has been scanned/graded by Schreyer.
