I hear ANGEL Support is getting asked this question a lot these days. I'd like to provide an in-depth look at the answer.
First, the remarks field in drop boxes have always had a 2500 character limit. Prior to a recent update ANGEL would silently not save any characters beyond that limit. To prevent this type of data loss, ANGEL now warns you that you've exceeded the limit.
Second, a common question seems to be that ANGEL claims that more than 2500 characters have been entered even when the user has only entered a few letters. This is the result of an unfortunate interaction between Microsoft Word and, well, everything else including the ANGEL HTML editor. Let's take a look at why this occurs and what can be done about it.
Greetings all. I am having an issue with a javascript file that was working fine in 7.1, but is now not working in 7.3 and I was wondering if anyone could help me out and figure out what the problem is. The attached file is an accent pad that is used in many of our Spanish quizzes in ANGEL. It is designed so that whenever you click on one of the accented characters, it would place it in the text box where you wanted it. The problem I am now having is that while the accent pad displays properly, it really doesn't do anything. The characters no longer function the way they are supposed to.
I am not a whiz at javascript, so I am seeking anyone who might know something about it.
Thanks!

On July 30, 2009, Information Technology Services performed an update on ANGEL to improve the usability of the inline HTML editor. In most areas where the HTML editor is available, it will now load automatically without the need to first click the "HTML Editor" link. This change should correct issues that some users have experienced with line breaks and formatting not being retained.
Please note that the HTML editor will not load automatically in a few text areas, including the message field in drop boxes, some text fields encountered when creating or editing a question in a quiz or survey, and the answer field in essay questions when taking a quiz. To use the editor in these areas, you will still need to select the "HTML Editor" link beneath the text box. If you do not see the HTML editor when composing ANGEL mail messages, please enter your inbox, click preferences, select the HTML format for your mail messages, and save.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please contact ANGEL Support.
Two frustrating things about ANGEL's new mail setup:
1.) Adding address to the "To:" I use computers with fairly small screen (1024x768 and 1024x600), so the flash pop-up address adding window often has the bottom of that window (with the all important "Okay" button) hidden from view. Clicking on it gives me the ability to move it, but not resize it to my screen area. Since I can't drag it higher than the banner, this doesn't help.
2.) When I look at the emails I sent, they are *not* word wrapped. I have to horizontally scroll quite a way to read a long paragraph. Is this a formatting error on my part?
I've heard that with the release of ANGEL 7.3, overflow space for courses that exceed the 1 GB limit can no longer be linked to the original course space. Students would see separate sections for the original course space and overflow space in ANGEL and would need to navigate to the correct link. Is this accurate, and are there any plans to address this or will this be the process going forward? thanks!
On July 20, two ANGEL features are being updated: 1) the way in which discussion forums are displayed in the Discussion Forums component on the course Communicate tab, and 2) what a course editor sees on the Activity Detail report for a lesson content item if tracking is disabled.
