Recording of the ANGEL 7.4 Town Hall

Penn State plans to upgrade ANGEL to version 7.4 at the end of the spring semester. A Town Hall was held on Friday, April 16, 2010 in order to provide faculty, support staff, and others who work with ANGEL a chance to view the new ANGEL interface. This was an open discussion forum where in-depth exploration of all the new tools and features took place. In particular a lot of time was spent reviewing the Assessment tool that will replace quizzes when we upgrade. During the town hall we:
* Explored the new features in ANGEL 7.4 including the assessment tool, survey tool, and rubric tool.
* Reviewed the updated features including the Google Media button in the HTML editor.

ANGEL assessment tool available spring semester

Since January 5, a new type of ANGEL lesson content called assessments has been available to faculty for use in courses. The assessment tool is similar to the quiz tool, but with more robust features. Faculty are strongly encouraged to explore the assessment tool’s functionality, convert quizzes to assessments, and try out the tool over the course of the spring semester. When ANGEL is upgraded from version 7.3 to version 7.4, the familiar quiz tool will no longer be available; only the assessment tool will be available. The upgrade is tentatively scheduled for May 2010.

ANGEL Import Wizard and Export Wizard tools to be turned off during finals week

To optimize the performance of Penn State's Course Management System, ANGEL, during spring finals week, the Import Wizard and Export Wizard tools will be turned off from 4:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1 until 6:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8. These tools include the Copy Course, import Content Package, import Master Course, and export ANGEL Archive functions. Students can continue to upload/download files and access lesson content.

ANGEL upcoming version 7.4 to be explored during Town Hall

On Friday, April 16, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., faculty and staff are invited to a free ANGEL Town Hall, either in person at 116 Wagner Building, University Park, or via an online Adobe Connect videoconference. Attendees will be able to preview the ANGEL 7.4 course management system interface and its new tools and features, explore how ANGEL 7.4 impacts learning, and participate in an open discussion with their peers from across Penn State. The upgrade to version 7.4 is tentatively scheduled for May 2010.

Back button in timed quizzes

I've been talking with ANGEL support on this one but wanted to see if anyone else has run into the situation and/or come up with a word-around.

In a timed quiz, a pop-up window will notify the user when time has run out. After clicking on OK, the quiz is submitted. A use can hit the browser back button and be back in the quiz. It may appear to a user that they are re-taking the quiz given that questions can be answered and re-submitted. The report from the submission will indicate that the quiz was submitted late. However, it seems that (in the case of 1 attempt only at least - I haven't tested in multiple attempts), none of the new answers are submitted. It is still the first version of the quiz that is graded but with a note about being late.

So my questions:

Adobe Presenter Quizzes and ANGEL

Is anyone successfully using Adobe Presenter to create quizzes and hook them into ANGLE through SCORM? I can get the quizzes to work and show up in the gradebook, but I also need for tracking to work so we know when a quiz has been submitted. Is anyone else using Adobe Presenter quizzes in this way? Does anyone know how to get ANGEL to track and indicate to the instructor when someone completes a quiz?
