ANGEL v7.1

Presentation to the Department of Dairy and Animal Science on ANGEL 7.1

Allan & I provided an overview of what to expect in ANGEL 7 for the Department of Dairy and Animal Science (DAS) on May 7th. DAS recorded the sessions and was kind enough to allow us to share it.

Reactions to new version? Stories? Surprised users?

I was wondering if anyone has been hearing about faculty/student reactions to the new version of ANGEL. Did the word get out sufficiently? Are there any unusual reactions? Any lost data or other problems (things that got lost in the translation)?

The New Help & Information Guide

You may have noticed, when you select the Help (?) button icon on the left hand side of the screen the ANGEL Help & Information Guide looks different (See the attached screen shot). Well, that's because it is different. Along with the upgrade to ANGEL 7.1 we also installed a new help tool. The new Help tool should make finding documentation easier. Information is now broken down into topical chunks called articles. You can use the Content links on the left to search for articles by tab. Or you can use the Search feature.

Once found, you have the option to print, email, bookmark, or download articles. Additionally you can also subscribe to an article. By subscribing to an article you will receive an email notification whenever the article is updated.

The Help & Information Guide is still the place to go to contact ANGEL Support, suggest an enhancement, etc.

Knowledgebase of ANGEL documentation under (rapid!) construction

As a perfectionist, for better or worse, normally, I'm a "you can't see it till it's finished" type-person. Our dedicated team of eight is building a new, improved ANGEL Help & Information Guide for v. 7.1, which is a searchable, browsable knowledgebase (content management system) in which we are placing relatively short, discrete topics. We really hope this will assist ANGEL users. In this case, I *want* you to see it before it's finished...read on.

Upgrading to ANGEL 7.1: Five Things A Student Should Know

On May 19, Information Technology Services (ITS) plans to upgrade Penn State’s Course Management System, ANGEL, to version 7.1. The new version will sport a streamlined interface that provides students with a more convenient way to access course information as well as monitor their progress.

Here are 5 things students should be aware of as we get closer to the upgrade; some things familiar and some different:

1. The new tabs, Resources and Reports. The Resources tab combines the information previously located on the Welcome page along with the course resources, e.g., the library and other related links to course materials, the instructor makes available. The Resources tab is where you should go to read Course Announcements and Course News as well as take any polls the instructor makes available.

Upgrading to ANGEL 7.1: Five Things A Faculty Member Should Know

On May 19, Information Technology Services (ITS) plans to upgrade Penn State’s Course Management System, ANGEL, to version 7.1. The new version will sport a streamlined interface, allow greater customization of course tabs, and provide more convenient ways to access reports on student progress.

Here are 5 things faculty should be aware of as we get closer to the upgrade; some things familiar and some different:

1. The Syllabus, Calendar, and Lessons tabs are still there. All the functionality we are used to having is intact and these tabs are still the first three tabs listed when you enter your course.
