Yu-chang did a short movie covering the latest ANGEL Shorts topic. The Five Things Faculty Need to Know about the Action Editor. Just click on the image to open the movie.
I gave a presentation to the e-Education Council today where the main focus was to update the council on the status of our planned upgrade to ANGEL 7.2 at the end of the spring semester. I also provided them with an update of what we're doing as far as bolstering the hardware and improving system performance. Since this is information a lot of you would also be interested in hearing, I made a brief movie out of my slides.
We've been reviewing ANGEL 7.2 in earnest in order to be prepared for our upgrade targeted for the end of the spring semester. Some of the new features we're looking forward to introducing include a Date Manager and new HTML Editor as well as re-designed mail and chat tools. Having said that, we're not finished with our testing so the feature set may change.
Yu-Chang Hsu created a movie version of ANGELshorts (Vol. 2, #1): Five Things Faculty Should Know about the Manage Tab. In the movie Yu-Chang walks you through the essential things you need to know about using the Manage tab including course settings and management features as well as , data management, tools. The movie is short, to the point, and very informative. I recommend checking it out. Let us know what you think and maybe we can make this a regular feature.

I've devised a solution for an "Angel challenge" I experienced for some time. This little process allows me to to better segment many different Angel resources (discussion forums, documents, dropboxes etc.), that are tied to a single lesson, but appear in a long list on the page.
Similar results can be achieved with a simple file and folder structure, but for a number of reasons (I won't take time describe), I needed to do it this way. I hope this helps someone, or at least spawns other ideas on flexibility within Angel.

Disclaimer:
There a three ways to add a syllabus to a course: You can create a syllabus from within the course using the Syllabus template; you can link to a syllabus that already exists on the web, e.g. on your personal web space; or, you can upload an existing syllabus file. This is the most popular way of adding a syllabus to a course. Placing a syllabus in your ANGEL course and making the course available meets the Faculty Senate requirements of providing a syllabus to students. Alex, Yu-Chang and myself put together a short vignette describing each process. Click on the image below to watch the brief demonstration.
A really nice feature of the ANGEL Course Gradebook is the ability to use it in conjunction with eLion. Instructors can, while in eLion, select the option to pull in the student's grades from their ANGEL Course. But to do this you must first prepare the gradebook to "speak" with eLion through a process called Publish Final Grades. I've put together a short vignette explaining this process. Click on the image below to watch the brief (about 3 minutes) demonstration.
