Faculty and staff are invited to submit a proposal for a poster session to be held at the 2008 Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology on Saturday, March 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, University Park. In line with the Symposium theme of “The Collaborative Campus and the Culture of Teaching and Learning,” poster sessions can address such topics as collaborative tools, ways of incorporating student-created digital media, practices that foster student ownership of their learning, creation and use of shared learning resources, and the use of new learning spaces to extend the classroom experience.

Very large files uploaded to ANGEL can take longer for students to download and they strain the performance of the ANGEL system. In addition, too many large files can cause instructors to reach their course size limit of 1 gigabyte (GB). Some types of files that tend to be large are videos, high-resolution photos, PowerPoint presentations, and PDFs. Two topics recently added to the online ANGEL Help & Information Guide provide suggestions to avoid uploading large files.

I've devised a solution for an "Angel challenge" I experienced for some time. This little process allows me to to better segment many different Angel resources (discussion forums, documents, dropboxes etc.), that are tied to a single lesson, but appear in a long list on the page.
Similar results can be achieved with a simple file and folder structure, but for a number of reasons (I won't take time describe), I needed to do it this way. I hope this helps someone, or at least spawns other ideas on flexibility within Angel.

Disclaimer:

Does anyone know of any scripts in ANGEL that allow for a student to upload a document to a dropbox and then choose a document to download (but only if they uploaded a document) for a peer review? An instructor in our program is looking for something like this...sort of a check in/check out feature of a drop box. Thanks!

I just want to express my extreme frustration and anger about the problems on ANGEL today. I had an entire day set aside to do a lot of my grading and receiving of papers through ANGEL and it has been a miserable failure due to the technical problems with the ANGEL system.
I am sure all the right people are working hard to fix the problem, but I really bought into ANGEL this semester thinking that I could easily give comments to my students and track all their grades online. It is unacceptable to have such a major system failure at this time.

Oh boy, you're probably thinking, another exciting update post. But wait! This one includes something that I think will make a lot of instructors very happy. We've introduced a feature that will make downloading drop box submissions more efficient and allow you to more easily identify who submitted what. Click Read More for information about the new tool.
We also made some changes to CSCS. When submitting a proposal, CSCS records who submitted it AND who the faculty member the submission was made on behalf of. The submitter information is now shown on the first page when creating a proposal, and will be filled in automatically with data from LDAP. People reviewing a proposal are now asked to provide their title, department, and campus. This information will also be filled in automatically with data from LDAP.
