Q: Even for the iStudy modules/assignments/activities that I am able to link, ANGEL isn't recording their grades from their participation in the iStudy lessons. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
A: What kind of assignment/activities are you referring to? Are these quizzes the students are taking in ANGEL? Are they drop box submissions? Something else?
If the quizzes are actually located in iStudy and ANGEL is just linking to them it probably will not be able to read the grade. If the students are taking an ANGEL quiz then make sure the quiz is associated with an item in the Gradebook.
Q: I am having trouble linking the "Oral Presentations" iStudy module in the "Lessons" folder of ANGEL to the "assignments" in the Gradebook, even when using the “advanced settings” within the "edit selected" assignment. I'm not sure why, but it could be related to the fact that the iStudy module for "Oral Presentations" doesn't appear as an option in the "Import assignments" list. You can only find the two Oral Presentation iStudy activities if, in the "import assignments" list, you select "All modules."
A: This appears to be an importing issue. Here is what I suggest:
Note: This will create a duplicate copy of the "Oral Presentation Activity 12" assignment in the Gradebook. Go in and delete the one that is not associated with the Lesson content item. You can see this from the Gradebook by
Q: One of the participants has chosen the online grade report. Can he contact the helpdesk and/or you and change to the Gradebook? Even if it is possible, is it something that is offered?
A: I went into his account. His only course now has the Gradebook so I guess his problem is solved.
FYI: This is still a one-time only option.
Q: Can grades from UTS be pulled into the Course Gradebook?
A: Instructors can pull in grades from two services provided by UTS: Test Pilot and Bubble sheets. There is a link on the Lessons tab that enables instructors to retrieve these tests scores from shire and then to place them in the Gradebook (figure) . There is a link in ANGEL Help under Faculty Documentation for the Penn State Test Tool that will provide additional information (figure) .
Q: Can grades be changed after they are "published"?
A: Instructors can "publish" final grades as many times as they need to do in the Course Gradebook. All the "publish" feature does is to get the final grades in a format that eLion can communicate with. Instructors also have the option to change a final grade right in the "publish" screen, and they also can change any grade once they pull it into eLion
Q: A participant checked the box to lock a grade, but could then overwrite/change the grade without unchecking the box. Please let me know if this is a known issue and/or how/why that could happen, as it seems to defeat the purpose of the lock.
A: This is not a glitch. From within the Gradebook an instructor can modify any grades. The lock function is to prevent them from accidentally over-writing a grade by changing the grade in the Lessons tab or by importing a spreadsheet. This is why you can physically over-write on the Enter Grades screen, even if the "Lock" box is checked.
Q: A participant attempted exporting and could see all TAs for the Course in her spreadsheet. She had all of the display boxes for "Only Students" checked before the export. How can she export without TAs, and what if she deletes them in Excel keeps grades there and then wants to import back to the Gradebook? Will grade/student alignment/accuracy be compromised?
A: From the Gradebook, the export function does not have a select "only students" option (figure). You can simply export your entire Gradebook. Once you do you can delete any TA or faculty columns and re-import without any issues, I just tried it and it went without a hitch (figure).
If you are referring to the print feature from the View screen (where you can generate a PDF file) I did that and it only pulled the student data and not any faculty information.
