BuzzLion is back after a great break and is ready to jump into the world of educational technology at Penn State. What better way to start with the Learning Design Summer Camp.

What on earth is a Learning Design Summer Camp? Before you get any visions of instructional designers singing camp songs and catching poison ivy, take a look at this wiki to learn more.

As mentioned in the last two BuzzLions, this event was unique. Here are some blog posts by the planners and attendees that demonstrate this:

- Allan Gyorke of ETS talked about the attendees state of “ultra-connectivity”.

- Allan then gave a run down of Day 1 and why it, well, kicked ass!

- Cole Camplese of ETS offered a look at an issue raised at Camp: storing your digital stuff.

- Here is that Allan guy again, now talking about why this even was so unique.

Those blog posts do a nice job of capturing the spirit of the event. It went so well there is already talk of Learning Design Summer Camp 2009.

As great as Camp was, that wasn’t the only thing going on in ETS this week. Elizabeth Pyatt of ETS blogs this week about her leap into the microblog Twitter, with a few caveats.

Brett Bixler of ETS posted in the Educational Gaming Commons on a paper EDUCAUSE produced on the educational benefits of the Wii. He also issued a call to action for all those interested in educational gaming and virtual worlds. For what? Take a look and see, and join Brett.

Pat Besong of ETS invites anyone interested in multimedia development in education to a series multimedia community group meetings. The monthly meetings will kick off September 26 – learn more here.

That’s it for this week’s BuzzLion. Thanks for reading!
