Faculty are invited to learn and share effective uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning at the free Penn State Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology. The 2008 Symposium, which will build on the previous year’s theme of social computing, will take place March 29, 2008 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, University Park. For more information and updates, please visit this site (http://symposium.tlt.psu.edu/) or subscribe to the news feed for this site to receive the latest updates as they are released.

About the Symposium

The 2008 TLT Symposium will be held on March 29, 2008 at Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. This year's theme, "The Collaborative Campus and the Culture of Teaching and Learning", will highlight stories of how Penn State faculty have been using collaborative software, new learning spaces, digital media, student-centered activities, new forms of assessment, and other innovative combinations of technology and philosophy.

Old Web Site, New Web Site, and Broken Links

In April, 2007, we moved our online content from a static Web site to this new venue which allows interaction. We wanted to make this transition as smooth as possible for all of our community members, so, using the "magic of the Internet," we kept the same URL (meeting.psu.edu) but applied it to a different location. In making this move, one of our priorities was to patch as many links as possible from the old site to the new site to minimize broken links for those of you who have linked directly to our information. Unfortunately we have been unable to achieve 100% on our goal.

Although we are no longer maintaining our old site (http://tlt.its.psu.edu/breeze), we also have not removed the files because people are still using them. For those of you who are still linking to our old site but are experiencing broken links, the secret to making your existing links work again is to change the URL from "meeting.psu.edu/" to "its.tlt.psu.edu/breeze/." An even better solution would be to find the same information at our new site and link to that instead, but we will leave that choice up to you. Eventually we will be removing the old files as they will quickly become outdated, but I don't have a set timeline for doing that -- just sometime in the future.........

As always, if you are afraid we will remove something from the old site that you use regularly, feel free to make a copy of it and post it in your own space. If you are experiencing broken links and can't find the information that you need, please feel free to post a question here at the community or send email to breeze@psu.edu.

Adobe Connect Meeting Rooms for Students

Adobe Connect is a Web-based desktop video conferencing tool that is available for use by everyone in the Penn State community. Although students may not create or own meeting rooms, they may work with staff advisers and faculty members to obtain access to meeting rooms. Once a student has access to a meeting room, the Host for the meeting room, usually the staff or faculty member, can assign the student a role which gives him/her access to all of the tools in the meeting room.
Students who are using Adobe Connect will need to read the materials under the "Getting Started" link and the "Using Adobe Connect" link. Students who will be hosting meetings will also need to read information about their specific meeting type found in the "Hosting Meetings" section.
General support for Adobe Connect is provided by the ITS Help Desk. Additional support information can be found in the "Help/FAQ section." Or, to pose a question to this online community, log in (upper right of this screen just below the "Search" box) using your Penn State Access Account ID and password and submit your questions, replies, and comments to one of the forums.
