ETS Events

ETS we provide opportunities for various members of our community to gather and learn from one another throughout the year. We host the annual TLT Symposium, Learning Design Summer Camp, Media Commons Tailgate, and Game Day.

Each event focuses energy on slightly different themes within the overall contexts of teaching, learning, and design.

TLT Symposium

The Penn State Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology is an annual one-day event in spring where faculty showcase the ways that they are using technology to enhance teaching, learning, and research. The event is kicked off by a nationally-known keynote speaker and attended by over 400 faculty, instructional designers, librarians, multimedia specialists, technologists, students, and others who are interested in innovation in course design.

Game Day

Game Day is our spring event that focuses on educational uses of games and game-like elements. During this one-day event, people from around the university gather to share what they’ve been working on, demonstrate new projects, and discuss what works and what isn’t working.

Learning Design Summer Camp

Learning Design Summer Camp is an informal community-designed gathering of people who are interested in big issues related to the learning design process such as student engagement, active learning, learning space design, intellectual property, open educational resources, educational uses of social media, and the impact of disruptive technologies on the learning process.

Media Commons Tailgate

The Media Commons Tailgate is a highly interactive, one-day event in the fall that is focused on exploring the possibilities for digital media in teaching and learning. This event will be an opportunity for faculty, instructional designers, educational technologists, library staff, and others to explore new media technologies in-depth. Discussion will cover a range of issues from the technical to pedagogical, and should offer something for you regardless of your background.
