OVERVIEW

The domain of learning design is rapidly evolving to adapt to the needs of new students. Maintaining a perspective and competency with new and emerging systems provides a challenge for even the most seasoned learning designer.

This hands-on workshop provides a unique opportunity to explore and apply some of the newest technologies for the purpose of creating high-impact learning experiences. You will learn about a variety of technology solutions, and how they can help address learning needs, including:

  • Rapid audio and video production
  • Virtual worlds as learning systems
  • Social networking tools

YOU WILL LEARN

  • Evaluate the feasibility of new technology in a way that makes sense for your institutional mission
  • Integrate new technologies into your course design
  • Explain and justify the use of one or more of the technologies reviewed to your stakeholders

Plan to return home with resources for further learning, new contacts for collaboration, and an engaging multimedia product ready for classroom use.

Be sure to bring a laptop with wireless networking capability and any digital media capture devices you desire.

CONFERENCE FORMAT

You will work individually and in a design group to create and present a team-based educational product that you can apply on your own campus.
