Abstract: Online learning enhances access to higher education for many students - including students confronting disability issues. However, the technologies used to support content presentation and classroom interactions in online learning environments may present additional barriers to overcome for students with disabilities. What are Penn State's policies, practices, and standards around accessibility of online courses? What best practices in learning design and technology selection can assist in creating user-friendly and accessible learning environments? And what support services and resources are available to assist in providing accessible textbooks and other course resources? In this session, several Penn State accessibility experts will discuss best practices in accessibility that will enhance access to the online learning environment for all students, including students with disabilities.
The presentation will be available to all Penn State faculty and staff at http://live.libraries.psu.edu/mediasite/Catalog/. This site allows remote participants to view the presentation through their computers and ask questions remotely. (Make sure to check the link a day or two before the presentation.) Also, the presentation will be archived for viewing at a later date.
