Brian & I just got back from the CIC TechForum Conference held at the University of Illinois. We led a session with the topic theme of "The LMS is Dead. Long Live the LMS." The session was based off of an earlier podcast of ours discussion the future of the LMS, "The Baby & The Bath Water."
The forum is interesting from my perspective because of its technical focus. It's comprised mostly of those administrators & coders who work under the hood to keep the university's technological landscape running. Being that I am a front-end guy who works on user-interface issues with students & instructors, a lot of this culture is foreign to me. So, it really get me out of my comfort zone. But I believe the perspective helps me with developing a fuller appreciation of what goes into meeting the needs of our people.
We recorded Episode 14 while waiting for the security gate at the Champagne-Urbana airport to open so you'll hear lots of ambient airport sounds in the background. In this podcast Brian & I discuss our experience at the forum including thoughts on our session, our impression of some other sessions we attended, and what we can bring back to our university. I hope you enjoy the podcast & would love to hear your thoughts on the topic.
