2011 Educause Annual Conference Trip Report by Jeff Swain

Educause is a nonprofit association whose stated goal is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. Each year Educause holds an annual conference. This year’s conference took place in Philadelphia from October 18 through October 21, 2011. This report covers my impression of the events I attended. The full program can be accessed on the conference website, http://www.educause.edu/E2011.

While I attended many sessions at Educause this report will focus on the session directly related to two current university-wide initiatives of which I am a part: (1) Developing a long-term eLearning strategy for the university including a review of our learning management system options, and (2) program assessment for both accreditation and course improvement purposes.

I've attached my impressions of the conference including how I think we can apply what I learned to benefit teaching and learning at Penn State
