I was reading some articles from IRRODL (International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning) and found an interesting article on social loafing in online student teams. As you may or may not know "social loafing" is the act of slacking off in team scenarios, and as we also know, it happens on student teams, even the online ones.
There's a new site about using the collaborative learning spaces at Boucke and Pollock at University Park at
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/learningspaces/
The idea is that students can get together in one space to work on team presentations or team projects. Some spaces allow you to share documents on one large monitor, and are comfy lounges with wireless.
If similar environments exist at other locations, we would love to know.
