Studiocode Intro Workshop and Intermediate Training

I'm checking to see how much interest there would be in Intermediate Studiocode training -- for people who have used Studiocode before, but who would like to streamline their work or learn about more advanced features.  If you would be interested in a session like that, send me an e-mail (asg102).

Also, for those of you who are not quite at the "Intermediate" level yet, here are some resources for beginners:

Get your Hot Team Papers!

If you've been hearing about ETS Hot Team projects, but aren't sure where to download actual papers, you can see them all at on the tweaked ETS news hub at:

One paper that was not advertised much was one on "Location Aware Technologies" from a group led by Allan Gyorke.

Studiocode Training in February and March

If you are interested in learning more about Studiocode, ITS Training Services is offering Studiocode training during three sessions. If you get this after these dates and want to see more upcoming sessions, I recommend going to the Training Services web site and searching for "Studiocode".

Getting and Installing Studiocode

This is part of other posts, but I thought I'd make a separate entry, just so it is clear. Our license for Studiocode covers all university-owned Macintosh computers (this is a Mac-only product). It is currently installed in the ITS-operated Macintosh labs. If you are a faculty member, student, or member of the staff and use a university-owned Macintosh, then you can install it there as well.

Studiocode Training Videos

A few weeks ago, we had Ryan Peck come to campus to record some Studiocode tutorials. Studiocode takes up an entire computer screen, so the video isn't completely clear -- but it answers a lot of questions about what Studiocode can do and some helpful shortcuts. In addition to these movies, I also recommend attending the training sessions on November 27-30 and reviewing the Studiocode Resources post.

Here are the videos (10-17 minutes each):

Studiocode Resources

In the Fall of 2006, I was asked to investigate a tool called Studiocode. It's tool that lets you play a video and tag the video with keywords. Later, you can go back and quickly call up instances where those keywords applied or intersected. For example, if you're doing research on body language within classroom lectures, you could video record several class sessions and then create keywords like "nodding", "crossed arms", "leaning forward", "doodling", "writing on whiteboard", "student presentations", etc...
