Organizational Meeting, May 28, 2009

• Status Updates:

• • Session 1 - Who will invite people?
    • Moved some people to another session - they fit better.

• • Session 2: New Forms of Digital Scholarship
    • On track.

• • Session 3: Engaging students through game-like elements and external media

• • • Dirk Mateer volunteered.
    • Jane Charleton cannot attend, but Brett has her slides & will present in her place.
    • Game elements for in-room game
      • Simple, quick.
      • Personally meaningful
      • Done in the room.
      • Can be in groups.
      • No tech unless absolutely needed.
      • Card game?
      • Auction game?
      • Junk game - use it to reach a goal in teams
      • Tell a story about a picture
    • Outcomes - No losers. Nobody feels bad or left out. No social issues that make people feel bad.

• Session 4: Learning Design in an Era of Resource Constraints & Free Information
  • Revised, mashup of old session 4 &5
  • Still need some panelists for this!

• Session 5: Open Forum
  • Use live question tool to capture topics during day 1 and early day 2
  • Discussion of these topics

• Lightning Talks
  • Removed Cloud Computing

• Birds of a Feather Dinners
  • Let community decide on this.
  • Add space in wiki for it - DONE

• Misc

Need to order things for this now.

- Stickers - Allan will do.
   - Use last year, but ask for new inputs with end date of June 19. A.G will announce.
- T-Shirts? We use Cafe Press to set it up, individuals buy. - Erin will do.
- Business Card generator link - add to this year. - Erin will do.
- Alternative avatar generators. Ask community to post links in the wiki to these.

  - planetcreation (from last yr)

• • Make sure all presenters are listed as attendees. - ALL running a session will do.
  • June 15 as possible next meeting.
