Meeting with Elise Uhring on Wednesday, Feb. 28

- Elise and I met to go over the basics of Excel. She has previously used Excel to keep track of grading. She understood that more advanced mathematical functions and more capabilities were possible. I went over how to create a simple gradebook where she could enter in her grades and create mathematical equations that she could drag down a column. I also went over how to use multiple sheets when trying to organize her classes or grading projects. We are meeting this upcoming Wednesday, March 7.

Meeting with Jon Olson on Thursday, March 1

- Jon and I went over some questions he came up with regarding the online calendar (google and psu oracle) tutorial I gave him last week. I also gave him a demo of the Penn State iTunes podcasting that is coming soon after hearing more about it in Wednesday evenings TLA meeting. He saw how this was very applicable to Penn State students and faculty. He even saw how he could be distributing some of his lectures and saw many benefits.

I met with Barry Gorman on Feb 22 for 1 hr. In his ANGEL group, there are a few group editors and several group members. The content belonging to each group member is kept in a separate folder under the Contents Tab.

The scenario was each of these folders should only be accessed by the corresponding member and the group editors. Also, each member needs to edit and upload an excel worksheet periodically, and delete the older submissions.

My solution was to create a team for each member whose members are the group member and all the group editors. Then, I showed him how to restrict permissions for a folder to the members of a team only. Also, I mentioned how the team space under the In Touch Tab can be used with editing rights by the members to submit the excel file.

We'll have more meetings as he needs.

Meeting with Elise Uhring on Wed., Feb. 25

- Elise and I accomplished a tutoring session on Angel. I went over tools that she should be using and answered some questions for her in the process. We went over every tab and I explained the functions of each. We also went over how to set up and administer quizzes.

Meeting with Jon Olson on Thur., Feb. 26

- Jon needed some help in finding an online calendar system. I introduced him to some google and yahoo applications to do this job. We spent some time and I gave him an introduction into online applications to help make some of his tasks more efficient.

- Canceled because of snow storm

Meeting with Jon Olson on Thursday, Feb. 15

- We met and worked on converting more web pages into the new template we created. He also had some questions on streaming video. After some research I referred him to use the faculty media center and it helped him out tremendously.
