Second Week of Consultations

On Saturday, I met once again with Maritza to help her with her grade book and accompanying Excel file. This time I also made her step by step directions with screen captures to guide her through the process. Maritza is very quickly becoming proficient in a variety of tasks and needs less and less assistance in basic computer maneuvers. I was the first person to assign her homework in a long time. Maritza is continuing to learn how to manage her grade book and is a very enthusiastic learner. We have scheduled our next meeting for October 21.

Mary Riddle, a consultee from last week, asked me a rather interesting question:

“My TA wants to know if there is a way that after she enters some grades, that we can initially hide them from the student until we pass these papers back to them and then release the grade to be viewed”

I told her that I didn’t know of any way to delay the grades, but that I’d check back with the group as a whole… Input anyone?
