RESUME QUIZ ISSUE
Details:
Good afternoon. I am a TLA and have a client who is having trouble making active an edited version of a quiz. Given the prsume function how can one do this. We tried to hide the quiz and then edit before saving but the original quiz was still given in presume mode. We also tried not allowing students to save and then edit but still the same results. Will she need to create the quiz all over again or is there another way. Thank you.

Angelica:
I think what you describe is that you were building a quiz with the faculty, and
then pressed the "Begin [quiz title]" link to have a look at what it appears
like for students.
Then you decided to make changes to some questions and wanted to have a look
again at the quiz from a student's perspective.
That is when you noticed that there is no change in the "resume [quiz title]"
view.
This is very true. This is the same reason why you should never make a quiz
that is not finished available to students. When a student clicks on the
"Begin [quiz title]" link, they lock themselves into the version of the quiz at
that time. Even if they don't sumbmit it and the instructor adds questions to
this quiz later, it will make no difference to this student. She will always be
locked into this version of the quiz until she submits.
Then if there is a second take allowed, when she starts over, she will see the
very different version of the quiz with the new questions added (as described
in my hypothetical scenario).
This is the very same for an instructor--she locked herself into the first
version of the quiz. Please submit that version, and then start the quiz again.
Now you will see the new version of the quiz.
Every time you use the "Begin [quiz title]" link, you will get ONLY ONE version
of the quiz. If you make modifications to this quiz, you will have to submit
this old version and then start a new one. Instructors, and other editors can
take a quiz as many times as they wish (though students can only take it as
many times as you allow for this).
Week 9: Nov. 12 to Nov. 18
Meeting with Maria Hernandez on Nov. 14
- I was able to upload Maria's website in a computer lab. We went over how the process works. I also gave her a quick tutorial in how to make changes to her webpage through using MS Frontpage. We also went over some more questions she had with Angel regarding the calendar. Overall, I've been able to help her with a lot of questions. We will be meeting next week after Thanksgiving to go over any webpage questions she might have.
Meeting with Jon Olson on Nov. 15
- He did not show up but sent me an apology email.
No Consultations This Week
No consultations this week, I had one but it was canceled. I have one coming up on the 28th.
Week 9: Nov.13- Nov. 19
Hours this week: 2 hrs
Cummulative hours: 12.5 hrs
- Meet with Julie Brink on Mon, Nov. 13, 5:00pm, at 312 Old Main. In our last meeting, she set her gradebook to be percentage mode, but she didn't have the department standard of grading scale at that time. She asked for it after our first meeting and would like to meet again to make sure she can do it right. In this meeting, she set the grading scale for her class gradebook, tried to enter some grades in her gradebook, and figured out how to view the gradebook. Moreover, we went through some other functions in Gradebook, which she might use later, such as export gradebook, and publish gradebook. At the end, she also would like to know how to submit grades from gradebook to the elion system at the end of the semester. Unfortunately, I was not familiar with the Elion grade submission system. I posted a question on the TLA space and got an answer for it and emailed Julie later.
- On Wed, Nov. 15, 8:15am, I met Amanda Valentine, at 160 Burrowes. We talked about the basic functions in ANGEL, such as Quiz, drop box, and gradebook. Basically, we complete three tasks in ANGEL. First, I helped her transfering her ANGEL mail to her webemail. Second, we set up a drop box for her students to submit weekly journal electronically. Third, we set up the Gradebook, and entered some grades to see how it worked. I also told her how to copy the Gradebook settings to other courses she has.
Question concerning Gradebook and Elion
One instructor asked me how to submit her class' grades in the ANGEL gradebook to the Elion system at the end of semester. I cannot find related instructions on this problem. I only know that Gradebook can prepare the grads in a way that elion system requires by "publish score", but I don't know how to submit it. I think there is a different system of elion, which unrelated to Gradebook, am I correct?
