In this session, we will explore some basic options to change the color scheme and home page photo of the portfolio. To complete this step, you should have created the portfolio blog
Change Color Scheme
You can change the color scheme of your portfolio with the Styles option in the Design menu. The most up to date instructions are at http://kb.its.psu.edu/psu-all/hd/select-blog-styles-colors-fonts/
- Log in to http://blogs.psu.edu and enter your blog (white tab on upper right).
- In the Design menu on top, select Styles.
- In the next window, select the Professional Website option. A series of templates will load.
- Select Professional template with the most appealing color on the top bar.
- Click Apply Design.
- To test the design, click the view blog button (document icon), then Press Shift+Control+R (Windows) or Command+Shift+R (Mac) to load the new style into your browser.
Change Home Page Photo
For this section, you need a image that is ideally 905 pixels wide by 170 pixels tall. If you use a smaller image, you will see a large portion of white space. The image can be a GIF, JPG or PNG format.
Some Penn State theme portfolio images are available at http://ets.tlt.psu.edu/twt/portfolioheaders
- Log in and enter your blog.
- In the Create menu, select Upload File. Browse and select an image file.
- Make sure the Upload Destination is set to <Site Root>.
- Click the Upload button.
- In the next File Options window, enter "@banner" into the Tags field. This identifies the image as the new header image.
- Uncheck the option for "Create new entry using this uploaded file."
- Click the Finish button.
- Click the Publish button (circular arrow icon) to rebuild your blog.
- To test the design, click the view blog button (document icon). If necessary, press Press Shift+Control+R (Windows) or Command+Shift+R (Mac) to reload the page into your browser.
