Quest #4 - YouTube Videos
Quest #4 will explore YouTube. Grassroots video is quickly becoming a hot topic in education. You can read more in the ETS Grassroots Video White Paper.
YouTube provides a website which allows users to share short videos. If you've got a camera and something to say, YouTube is the place to share. Some even use the site to create their own ongoing video blogs.
You will need to create a YouTube account, unless you have already done so. You will also need access to a computer with a video camera and a sound microphone.
- Open a Web browser and connect to YouTube.
- If you don't already have a YouTube account, Click the "Sign Up" link on the upper right. Fill out the form and click the "Create my account" button. Don't forget the captcha! (That's a graphical image of text you have to type in - used to prevent automated programs from gaining access and wreaking havoc.)
- Sign in, using your existing YouTube account, or the account you just created.
- Think about a short answer to one of the following questions. Keep in mind, your response should be under 1 minute in length.
- How are YOU using technology to improve student engagement?
- How are YOU using technology to re-imagine some aspect of education (learning spaces, scholarship, assessment, communication, etc)?
- Use YouTube's QuickCapture feature to record yourself expounding on your chosen topic. No need to be too formal - just be open, honest, and have fun with it!
- Here is a link to a video which describes the process: "How To Make a Video for YouTube: Using Quick Capture on YouTube"
