ANGEL 7.3 Documentation Process Lessons Learned
The Doc Team met on Friday, 6/3, to review the 7.3 documentation process to see what worked and what can be improved. A full recording of the meeting can be found at (https://breeze.psu.edu/p94799594/) .
Successes:
- Team members felt they had early and sufficient access to the materials they needed including:
- ANGEL Learning's Documentation (Mary did a great job of parsing out the sections each individual was responsible for
- The preview server (including both vanilla and PSU customizations
- Talisma
- Hypersnap
- Team members felt that Mary and Jeff keep them up-to-date with information and due dates.
Opportunities:
- Standardize the documentation process including:
- How we mark our documents.
- The team would like to come up with a consistent process for marking changes to the documents. The consistency will make it easier for Mary to identify changes as well as make it easier for one team member to pick up where another has left off, if need be.
- How we track our documents
- The team would like to be more consistent with keeping the spreadsheet updated. Ideally we would like to do this in real time but if need be we can do it during the doc team meetings.
- How we provide document status (primarily to Mary but to the rest of the team as well)
- The Team would like to agree upon a standard format for updating Mary on document status. This includes email and within Talisma
- Previewing tools and features
- During the upgrade process team members would like to take turns previewing the tools and features they are responsible for. Because we're so focused on our own piece of the upgrade, we have difficulty keeping up with the big picture. This should help us reduce the learning curve.
- These recordings could be shared with the Penn State Community via the ANGEL Community Hub.
- Have a backup Talisma person to support Mary
- Could help with article review, approval, and publication
- Could be Jeff or someone else
