Tom's updates
Tom attended our meeting this week
- Each campus has listservs for faculty, staff, and students that is updated each semester
- We need to find out who the owners of these listservs are
- Campuses are willing to send our messages out to these lists
- IT Directors are interested in anything directed at teaching and research
How we can help Tom
Coordinating campus trips
- ITS Roadshow
- ITS Roadshow for the fall will be in DuBois
- Can we coordinate this with the Digital Commons tailgate
- Topics
- Lynda.com
- Systems Management at Penn State (The Big Fix)
- Using blogs to do a campus newspaper
- What people want to learn at the Roadshows
- What TLT does is of more interest to the campuses than the other units of ITS
- Tom sends out a survey to IT Directors to get topics
The Big Fix
Systems Management at Penn State
- ITS service at all campuses
- Supported by CLC
- Needs to be promoted to IT Managers
- A way to manage electricity and power in computers and labs hardware and software
- Will be in place for Fall
- Will be in place of CLM (not all campuses use CLM)
Campus Newsletters
Campuses are looking for advice on how to create their own newspapers
- We are suggesting using the blogging platform as a means for campuses to create their own e-newsletters/papers
- We can make this a topic at the ITS Roadshow
Symposium
We want to keep Tom in the loop on Symposium planning
- Make sure Tom has dates for proposal submissions, registration, etc.
- What can we do for campuses that can't afford to send faculty to attend
