E-Portfolio Class and Workflow
- Jeff Swain's description for his E-Portfolio class:
Session Title: Creating an Electronic Portfolio: Developing a Professional Presence on the Web Electronic Portfolios (e-Portfolios) are becoming standard practice for academics, students, and professionals. e-Portfolios are dynamic developmental spaces representing your professional "self" on the Web, They are generally comprised of examples of skill and achievement as well as a reflective blog element. This hands-on workshop is designed to get attendees comfortable publishing on the Web right from the start.
Prerequisites:
- Activate your personal web space by completing the Application Web Space form. Please do this at least two days prior to the workshop to ensure your web space is available.
- Look over the information at The Blogs at Penn State site
- Start thinking about what you want to include in your portfolio including:
- A name for your portfolio space
- What you want to include, e.g. photos, multimedia, writings, and other samples
- Topics you are interested in writing about. Examples include, personal and professional projects you're involved with, issues relating to your career, topics of interest in your field.
Objectives: In this workshop you will practice publishing to the web by:
- Creating your portfolio space.
- Writing a reflective blog post.
- Searching and commenting on the blogs of others.
- Adding additional material to your portfolio, including tabs and media.
- Using tags and categories to organize content.
- Advice on keeping a vibrant portfolio.
- Workflow process for content submissions
Overall goal is that a description like this will come through the Communication Group for editing
- We are creating an email alias for project managers to submit content to
- We would like the content to be reviewed by the content group before it is submitted by the project manager to Heather Ormsby
- If the content does get to Heather first it should be re-routed back to the Communications Group for editing
- The Communications Group wants to let project managers know that content needs to be edited before it goes to Heather

- Where will the faculty form reside?
- Mark currently has the faculty form residing in his personal space
- We want to have the form reside on the faculty page; the form will need to be built on the TLT landing page but the data is sent to Mark's Google doc
- The student form will reside on the student page
- Where will the faculty form reside?
- She has put in the framework HTML that is on the other springboard/landing pages that we can edit
- Audrey will need to give Mark access to the landing pages
- She has made pages for faculty and students
Mark will go through the "old" TLA site to edit the content
- He will send his edits to the Communication Group for review by COB 8/7
