Layout of Major Physical Components
North Wall
- Keep existing ethernet ports.
- Can we have DHCP on ports here?
- Keep existing fiber optics for security.
- Existing power is in a big cable directly fed to tables. Change to regular electrical outlets. We’ll need 8 in the tables section, another 8 near the LCD, for the Wii
- Add 52” LCD Panel in NE section.
- Add small locking cabinet for Wii and cables out to LCD, etc.
- Add locking AV Cabinet for all video switching equipment.
- Ideally, this could be a combo cabinet with the Wii in one locking section, the switching equipment in another.
- Add 6’ high magazine rack with multiple shelves that display mags face forward.
- Color – The eastern section from the wall support east is light blue, the western section from the wall support, including the support, is dark blue.
- Three sound baffles, evenly spaced from the wall support east. One between the wall support and the west wall.
East Wall
- Keep existing whiteboard and screen.
- Remove baseboard heat if possible.
- Need a price on this. If too costly, leave in.
- Color – Yellow.
South Wall
- Add ethernet ports.
- Eight on SW section for the PCs in the table section. Four for the PCs, four for future growth.
- Eight in SE section. Two for the PS3 and Xbox 360, six for future growth.
- Open (unused) ethernet ports should be DHCP.
Kent Becker is checking on possibility of this.
- Add fiber optics for security.
- Add four electrical outlets, sets of four (for a total of 16 outlets), evenly spaced on this wall.
Optionally have one cluster of 16 outlets in the middle of the wall.
- Add two 52” LCD Panel in SE section, evenly spaced between east wall and room support.
- Add small locking cabinet for PS3, Xbox 360, and cables out to LCD, etc.
- Color – The eastern section from the wall support east is chartreuse green, the western section from the wall support, including the support, is dark blue.
- Three sound baffles, evenly spaced from the wall support east. One between the wall support and the west wall.
West Wall
- Remove current wall and doors.
- Add ceiling to floor glass with secure doors in the middle of the wall.
- Glass doors
One preferred, two OK alternative
If not glass, then metal doors, same light blue as north wall.
Top half glass, bottom half solid is OK as an alternate.
If bottom half is solid, color is dark blue.
- Add Educational Gaming Commons lettering on the SW section of the glass wall.
Tables and Chairs
- Use four existing blue top tables, arranged in two sets back to back. Placed in western part of room, near the entrance. One set against the south wall, the other against the north wall, oriented so people sit facing either east or west.
- Use existing chairs. Need 10 of them, eight for the tables plus two spares.
Ceiling
- Keep ceiling projector.
- Replace lighting with modern fluorescent lighting.
- Rewire lighting so there are four quadrants that can be dimmed/shut off independently of each other.
- Replace ceiling tiles.
- Add a sliding beaded curtain on a rod just east of the support pillars on the north and south walls. You must be able to see through this even if closed. May need to add a support in the ceiling to support the middle of the rod.
Floor
Electronics
- We need to have all consoles (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360) linked to all LCDs and ceiling projector so they can be used independently (each console displays only on their closest LCD), independently plus the ceiling projector, or on all five LCDs plus ceiling projector.
- Each PC should have the ability to display so they can be used independently (each PC displays only on their closest LCD), independently plus the ceiling projector, or on all five LCDs plus ceiling projector.
- Is it possible to add something (RFID, etc.) all mobile peripherals (handhelds, etc.) so if they leave the lab area, an alarm goes off?
