Dates, Times, Location, and Topics

The Learning Design Summer Camp will be held in Pattee Library on August 12 (10 AM - 5 PM) and August 13 (8 AM - 3:30 PM). Most of the sessions will take place in Foster Auditorium, but lunches and small group discussions will happen at local campus dining locations and meeting rooms throughout Pattee Library.

Once I Arrive at Pattee, Where is Foster Auditorium? Foster Auditorium is on the first floor of Pattee on the left as you enter Pattee from the mall side of the library. This map of the first floor shows the location of Foster Auditorium in the library.

For a complete listing of the discussion topics and event locations, please see the:

Preparing for the event

Suggested Reading List

This can include books, blogs, web sites, reports, etc... that cover topics related to the ones that we'll be discussing during the Summer Camp.

Frameworks for Technologies and Project Briefing Pages

These are the kinds of technologies that we'll be discussing a lot during the event, starting with the Lightning Talks.

These projects will be discussed during the Lightning Talks to give everyone an idea of what they are, what they can do, and how they fit into the teaching and learning landscape.

Social Networking

There are several ways that this event will be connected through supporting social media services. The single common element on all of these sites is the tag "LDSC08". Here are some examples, but feel free to add your own.

  • Flickr is a photo sharing site where you can upload your own photographs, tag and describe them, geotag them, organize them into photo sets, and comment on other people's photos. If you use Flickr and upload photos related to the Learning Design Summer Camp, use the "LDSC08" tag and it will show up when people search Flickr.

Countdown to Camp Posts

To get ready for the Learning Design Summer Camp, we've been sending out weekly "Countdown to Camp" e-mail notices, which are also posted on the ETS web site. If you missed one, I would suggest reading through them. They are intended to help everyone mentally prepare for the topics we'll be discussing and give people the opportunity to contribute to the discussion, even before camp begins.

The topics have been:

People Shaping and Attending the Event

Community Involvement

Everyone attending the event can and should help to shape the event through this wiki. This is already happening with the proposal ideas, sticker and graphics pages, and the overall planning.

During the event, we expect the attendees to be heavily engaged in discussion and recording the event through blog entries, microblogging (Twitter.com), photo sharing, and anything else they feel like doing to capture the ideas and feeling of the Summer Camp.
