Daily Buzz
- Daily Buzz concerns - hits aren't really that great. Podcasts especially. Perhaps people don't know it is even there? I wrote an announcement and sent to Derick as a start, perhaps we can get this on the faculty/staff newswire. Also, finding content continues to be a challenge.
- Jamie has drafted an announcement that we can send to venues that explains what the Daily Buzz is and how it is offering fresh, daily content
- Jamie will send this announcement to Cole and Allan for approval
- Podcasts that appear on Daily Buzz will be uploaded to iTunes U and linked to TLT site
- Jamie will talk to Tim about creating a Daily Buzz space on iTunes U
Discussion of the TLA Program Transfer
The TLA program will be moved to the ITS Training Group
- There is a TLA drupal site that is for the student tutors - TLA web site
- Form for students to apply to be in the program is on this site
- Form for faculty to request a tutor is on this site
- Jeff uses this site to place information regarding the program
- Jeff recruits students every semester
- Students take a class
- Students sign on for a semester
Lynda.com project update / Questions for Audrey
When the Lynda.com licenses are rolled out in the fall, we will need to let Penn State users know that they must log out of Lynda.com when they are done using it - users are automatically logged out after 4 hours
- The initial idea is to create a splash page that reminds users to log out
- Audrey has suggested creating a Penn State frame where the Lynda.com page would appear
- Similar to when you click on a posted link in Facebook - keeps the Facebook frame at the top of the page
- Also encoded into it could be a time pop-up or something similar that notifies user that logged in time is coming to an end and that they may need to do something to remain logged in
Process for posting reports
Tara wants to get a quick lesson posting reports to the TLT site
- Reports and Surveys are under the "About Tab" on the TLT site
- select appropriate year folder
- under "Add New" select "File"
- files that are being uploaded should not have spaces in the file name; include year, month, day in file name
- specify publishing date
Hot Team white papers assigned a Creative Commons license
Cole has asked if there are any issues using a Creative Commons license on Hot Team papers. He mentions that we can use CC 3.0 licenses, and he and JTH would like to promote using that.
- Mary has contacted Karen Magnuson, the coordinator of all the U.Ed representatives
- Would a CC copyright override the Penn State copyright? Is Cole only referring to using images that fall under CC copyright?
Possibility of advertising in The Campus Special coupon booklet for student
A representative from the Campus Special Coupon Booklet visited the Training Group and mentioned that coupon booklets are handed out in the residence halls, to incoming freshman, etc. and inquired if anyone in this group wanted to purchase coupons that students could use for our services
- Each coupon is $689, but the price goes down if there are multiple coupons purchased
- Possible services that we could have coupons for
- Digital Commons
- EGC
- Tara sent an email to Jenn Struble to see if ITS would be interested in participating
- Coupon book comes out the first week of classes
- Computer Store has purchased coupons in the past, but they don't have any record of effectiveness
Google Analytics Training
The TLT Communications Group is looking to take Google Analytics training
- we would like to have the entire group go through the training
- Tara will touch base with Chris Lucas to inquire about bringing a vendor to PSU
- Derick will touch base with ITS Marketing Communications Group to see if anyone in ITS wants to participate in training and split the cost
