Deliverable Three:
Embedded Multimedia
Lead name(s)of individuals working on this part of the initiative
What is embedded multimedia? Here we are exploring audio, video, and images that play directly in the quiz as opposed to linking out to other applications.
- define the difference between embedding and linking
Pedagogical Starting Point: Why would you want to use them?
- Good for Low level Identification (e.g. parts of a cathedral, foreign language vocabulary, English vs. native accent)
Note: For High Level Interpretation (e.g. discuss meaning of a art piece, critique of a commercial), a discussion activity may be better in many cases
- Address multiple learning styles/preferences (text, audio, visual)
Examples: Who is using them?
- Foreign language departments link to short video and audio clips for listening exercises.
- Engineering - students complete a question and answer exercise on ANGEL then watch a video with voice over of someone presenting the ‘correct’ solution to the problem the student just finished.
- Psychology - students watch a short video and respond to questions about the social psychology concepts depicted.
How do they work?
- Add a image in Section Header - Article 1200 Quiz Section Header
- Else include link to file in Section text via HTML Editor
- Using a discussion forum as a quiz
Significance: Why are they a valuable tool/resource?
What are the limitations of this tool/resource?
- Large files (esp video) should be stored outside of ANGEL course because of size limitations
Where can I find more information about this tool/resource?
Deliverable How will we deliver this information? Video tutorial, ANGELshort, TownHall?
This will be an ANGELshort. Also will be included on the ANGEL Community Hub
