Daily Buzz Intro Graphics
George and Jamie are working on putting a promo video on the TLT site that is a recap of the Daily Buzz items for that week
- Format of a 30 to 45 second news bumper
- Working with Pat on the intro graphics
- Will be done in Flash
- The actual video will be put together in Final Cut
- George and Jamie are still working the format of the video
Google Calendar
Derick showed JTH the TLT Communications Group Google Calendar
- JTH has asked that we send him a PDF of each month at the beginning of that respective month
- Derick will send the PDF file to JTH the first week of the month
- Derick will notify the other members of the Comm Group two days before he sends the file so any updates to the calendar can be made
- A new PDF file can be sent to JTH if items are added that weren't initially planned
Google Analytics Reports
JTH would like an email with a link to each month's report
- Once a semester (at the end of the semester) JTH would like a summary report of the semester's trends and tracking of campaigns
- We will set aside one Comm Group meeting a semester to write the summaries for the TLT and Training Services sites
- Audrey will send JTH the Analytics reports every month for TLT and Training Services sites; she will copy all of the Comm Group on these emails
EGC Second Life Workshop
Event details
EGC is looking to have this event sometime in mid-November
- Tentatively Thursday, 11/12
This will take place in the EGC lab
- Space is limited to 12 people
The workshop will be one day but in two parts (9 to noon)
- The first part will be an intro to Second Life
- what it is, how to get account, etc.
- Shannon Ritter will work with Brett on getting this set up
- The second part of the workshop will be optional
- will show discipline specific uses of Second Life
Registration
Brett will be setting up a Google Form for registration
- He will send us the URL of the Form to use for our announcements
Promotion
Since space is limited to 12 people, we will do more targeted marketing as opposed to a broad sweep of announcements
- We want to include in the promotion that we want faculty to tell us what their discipline is or what they are interested in seeing so we can prepare the second part of the workshop
- Brett will identify any particular areas he would like to target
- I will send to the colleges, but not the newswires
- This is a UP only event
- Audience is faculty
Action items
- Mary will work on the announcement
- Derick will send Brett's draft to her
- We will send the announcement out the week of November 2
Request to Communications Group from Chris Sacskteder
Chris Sackesteder sent a note to Barb mentioning that several years ago Dave Stong designed a desktop background graphic for the lab and classroom Windows computers. This graphic doesn't work for Windows 7, which no longer has the rectangular login dialog box.
- Chris would like Dave to design a new graphic
- The date this is needed is not until May 2010
Barb forwarded this note to the TLT Comm listserv
- As part of the workflow process we are establishing, we need to respond to this request
- We should discuss Dave's involvement
- Should we use a ticketing system like Footprints for requests?
TWT Overview Sessions
Elizabeth will be presenting two overview sessions of the TWT program in the Thanksgiving week Fall Fest. The talk will cover the structure of the program, resources and show example portfolios and answer questions attendees may have.
- Mon Nov 23, 1-2 PM in 169 Willard
- Tue, Nov 24, 9-10 AM in 169 Willard
I sent Elizabeth a list of venues that we can send announcements to
- TLT site
- Training Services site
- Grad Student Association listserv
- Graduate School newsletter
- Student newswire
Mary will work on this
ETS workshops during Winter-Fest
JTH wants ETS to offer workshops over Winter-Fest
- Chris Lucas met with Allan to discuss what ETS could do; not more than 5 workshops
- Derick will touch base with Allan to see what he is planning
- Derick will update Tara
- ETS staff need to submit seminar descriptions to tltcomm@psu.edu by 10/28 (we can probably extend this by a week)
- Comm Group needs to have the descriptions proofed by 11/4
- They will then be sent to Heather Ormsby
